Daniel Ricciardo Is Officially Back As He Replaces Nyck De Vries At AlphaTauri

It was a rumour for a brief two hours before it was officially confirmed that grid-favourite Daniel Ricciardo will be back in Formula One, and this time, not as a reserve driver. The Australian driver has been announced as a confirmed driver at AlphaTauri and is expected to drive at the Hungarian Grand Prix, later this month. This shake-up is due to Nyck de Vries, a two-time Formula E champion, who couldn't quite live up to the hype in Formula 1.

We're hoping (as much as Daniel Ricciardo himself is) that the comeback will see him take care of "unfinished business" as he had said when he was dropped from the grid at the end of last season. Danny Ric's first return race will be at the same track where he won his second F1 race back in 2014.

This will be a great shuffle on the grid, and perhaps add that much-needed spice to the season which has otherwise been fairly uneventful. It’s only July and Max Verstappen is already 99 points clear of the second placed driver and teammate Sergio Perez while Red Bull are 208 points ahead of the closest competitor, Mercedes. Ricciardo fans, are you ready for this?
